One Fine Day.....London

Hi everyone, I am Laura from Stylaurista and here is my 'One Fine day' in London…

I start the day with the perfect breakfast from the new must be restaurant Duck and Waffle …. Located on the 40th floor of Heron Tower in the City of London, Duck & Waffle made its debut in the London restaurant scene in the summer of 2012. Inspired by broad European and British influences and spirit, the restaurant’s vibrant atmosphere encourages a convivial experience for guests through its array of dishes designed for sampling and sharing. I love the signature dish Duck and Waffle ... its incredible...

I then head off to a photoshoot with More Magazine to take part in their How Would You Wear page … the item which i have to style up is this River Island kimono …

Before heading home, I head to Shoreditch to catch a film at the Aubin Cinema. Run in conjunction with Shoreditch House private members' club, the Aubin Cinema provides an unrivalled level of comfort and style for up to 45 cinema-goers. What better way to enjoy a film than from velvet sofas and chairs, plumped up with Aubin & Wills cushions?

Aussie Hair UK Silk Bath Robe Launch

Some of you may already know that I have been lucky enough to collaborate with haircare company, Aussie Hair UK! http://www.aussiehair.com/uk/

Our first collaboration saw us have an amazing press launch at the Mayfair Hotel in London and design an exclusive scarf for their new Miracle Shine product!

The press and attention we received for this was amazing so we have now designed a silk bath robe with exclusive print for their limited edition "Street Art" botttles.

For the print, I worked with amazing print designer Jolene Nettleinghame and we started looking at ways of bringing in the Australian ginseng and pearl powder that is used in the miracle shine products. I also looked at the contrasting environments of the countryside and the beach as these are the two places I always end up when I travel back to Australia.

I decided on Ginseng berries as the colour of these is so vibrant and they could be incorporated easily into a print. I then started thinking about the fine spray of a paint can that street artists use - I thought this could be easily interpreted as Eucalyptus flowers as they have this kind of sprayed out aesthetic. These formed the main part of the print.

The last part of the print was formed by aloe plants and finally, as a complete contrast to the femininity of the print, graffiti was added to be in line with the street art bottle.

The robes were launched to the press at The Riding House Cafe www.ridinghousecafe.co.uk last week and went down a treat!
Stay tuned for more collaborations with our brand and Aussie!

One Fine Day.....South West London

Hey all! I'm Amy and I blog over at Vintage Reflection. I'm very lucky living in South West London, its such a beautiful place. I thought I'd show you my favorite local cafe, Lavish Habit in Balham. Any fine day has to involve tea and cake and no where does it better than Lavish! I mean look at those photos of the cakes, yummy!

After I've had my cake fix, I head to the local florist and pick a different coloured bunch each time. I love having fresh flowers in my flat. I also take a wander around the local charity and independent shops. I usually round off the day with outfit photos which I combined with a walking my dog Coco in the local commons.

What I'm wearing - Coat, Scarf & Dress - Vintage, Jumper - Topshop, Satchel - Urban Outfitters, Brogues - Office.

Hope you've enjoyed my little guest post and feel free to pop over to my blog and say hi!

One Fine Day.....The English Countryside

Hi, I'm Lorna, I'm a personal style and fashion blogger for my own blog Raindrops of Sapphire  http://www.raindropsofsapphire.com and I am honoured to be doing a guest post for Kelly and her blog.

As I live in the countryside of England, I'm excited to do a post showing you the kind of clothes that I wear and the type of locations I have around me to use for my photos. Most style bloggers often live in the big cities of LA, NY or London, so I find it interesting coming up with different areas that I can use to keep my blog intriguing.

I live near a lot of fields and country lanes and I have cows across the road for my neighbours, so sometimes dressing in high heels isn't always an option unless I'm headed into town. So here are some of my looks with flats that I wear when there is too much rain, mud and grass around for me to wear any heels. I always love sparkle and colour though, so my choice in footwear generally always reflects that! Even my wellies are pimped out with ribbon, ha ha.

Here are some of my town outfits that I wear when I am surrounded by lots of concrete and buildings. I generally prefer to wear boots and wedges as I'm quite stable in them, but I do love little kitten heels as well because they are a lot easier to walk in than sky high stilettos. So here are some of my looks with boots and heels.

I generally love to accessorise my clothes with things like scarves and lots of jewellery as I feel like it adds so much flair and interest to my look, so here are some of my favourite accessories to wear.

And last, but definitely not least, since I live in the countryside, some gorgeous views for you to look at and some English heritage!

One Fine Day.....London

No matter where you live, there are always places nearby that evoke special memories of times gone by, provide a sense of community, sell or make products or produce that you love, or just make you feel as if you belong.

One Fine Day is a tribute to this. An assortment of guest bloggers from all over the world will tell us about the places they adore and their unique style in their own words.

As I have started this project, I thought it was only fair that I begin with my very own One Fine Day in London. I have lived in London for 5 years after moving here from Sydney, Australia and it is now one of my favourite cities in the world.....

On the weekends, I love starting the day with a walk in Greenwich Park Flower Garden followed by lunch at Hand Made Food http://www.handmadefood.com/ which is the best cafe in Blackheath in my opinion. I love the salmon and dill cakes, lentil salad with pomegranate and pine nuts, artichoke and goats cheese bruscetta + chickpea casserole. If you have a sweet tooth, the baked cheesecake and handmade fudge is delicious.

Another great place to start the day is the Columbia Flower Markets http://www.columbiaroad.info/ with tea and cake in Lily Vanilli http://www.lilyvanilli.com/ which is all to die for!

In the evenings I would pop to The Rum Kitchen in Notting Hill http://therumkitchen.com/ for the most delectable flavours. Rich Caribbean food with a kick – try the Pumpkin and Chickpea Curry, their famous spiced up Chicken supreme and the sweet little cocktail by the name of Strange Fruit!

I also adore The Riding House Cafe http://www.ridinghousecafe.co.uk/ for perfect modern tapas – the spiced beetroot fritters with mint ricotta or the smocked haddock kedgeree with boiled eggs are delicious as are their brunches and cocktails in old fashioned milk bottles.

Dock Kitchen http://www.dockkitchen.co.uk/ is also one with an amazing menu that changes weekly and is well worth a visit. Well known furniture designer Tom Dixon http://www.tomdixon.net kitted this place out and you can pop downstairs to his shop after lunch to pick up a cool piece for your house!

For after dinner cocktails I love ECC Chinatown http://www.chinatownecc.com/ and http://www.loungebohemia.com/ Both really quaint little places with friendly staff and amazing drinks! Plus Fernandez and Wells has an amazing array of sherry (yes - I am 90!!!)

I also couldn’t write about my favourite places in London without giving the markets a mention. The ones I adore are Blackheath Farmers Markets for the almond croissants, Malty Street for food and  cocktails out of teacups, Broadway Markets for people watching and lovely boutiques + Alfie’s Markets for amazing antiques and jewels http://www.alfiesantiques.com/

You would be hard pressed to do the above all in a day but I could go on and on about London - so many places to see and things to do.......

Stay tuned for our next post One Fine Day - The English Countryside from Lorna who is the founder of the lovely blog  http://www.raindropsofsapphire.com
